My Sewing Room

This is my Embroidery machine ,it's still kicking after 12 years ,with a little love and attention I hope it lasts for another 12. I have made things from golf bags to christening gowns, the more I run this machine the better it likes it , no job is to tough or to delicate.

Embroidery has a very long history, it's one of the most sought after types of embellishments on clothing and other textiles for hundreds of years.

When embroidery was done by hand it took a very long time of intensive work by experienced artisans. Before I knew about embroidery machines, I tried hand embroidery myself ,it's a lovely art form but it's much to slow for me. If your lucky you could probably get maybe 20 stitches per minute by hand. By machine however, you will get up to 1200 stitches per minute.

Here are some of my hoops, the fabric is hooped much the same as the old fashioned hand embroidery hoops of the past. The extensions on the sides slip onto the embroidery machine.

In order to  do any type of embroidery you will need thread. There are many kinds of thread, I use rayon it's the most beautiful, it has a nice shine and gives a design allot of dimension.   There are times however that a polyester thread may be needed. Poly is very strong and now it comes with a pretty good shine.
